These sweet baked treats are simple to make, good for bake sales and a good entry way into baking. The sugar and more intricate folds can make this baked treat a gourmet dessert.
Palmiers
Ingredients
- 1 pre rolled puff pastry
- sugar
- 3 tbsp butter melted
Instructions
- Roll out the puff pastry and put it on top of the baking sheet with parchment paper. Sprinkle with lots of sugar.
- Flip the dough over. Brush with butter and sprinkle more sugar on top.
- Fold the sides of the pastry towards the center in quarters. Fold them again so the two folds meet at the middle of the dough.
- Slice the dough into strips of about half an inch. Separate the two folds. Brush with melted butter. Sprinkle more sugar on top.
- Refrigerate for 30 minutes
- Preheat oven to 400°F and bake for 20 minutes, then turn over and bake for another 10 minutes or until the sugar has caramelized.
