A spicy tofu dish that can add a kick to your routine, a healthy dish with tofu and Sichuan peppercorn. It is also a easy stir fry recipe.
Mapo Tofu 麻婆豆腐
Ingredients
- 2 peices tofu diced
- 1 tbsp chili bean sauce (toban djan)
- 1/2 tsp Sichuan peppercorns powder
- 100 grams ground pork
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 1 tsp ginger minced
- 1 tbsp green onion (white part) minced
- 1 cup water
- 1 tbsp Chinese cooking wine
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 3 tbsp water
Marinate ground pork with the following for 15 minutes:
- 2 tsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp ginger minced
- 2 tsp Chinese cooking wine
Instructions
- Heat oil and add garlic, green onion and ginger to a wok. Then add ground pork and chili bean sauce, cook for few minutes. Then add water, Chinese cooking wine, salt, soy sauce, tofu and cook for few minutes.
- Mix cornstarch with water. Gently stir to the tofu to thicken the sauce.
- Garnish with green onion and some Sichuan peppercorn powder.
