Steak Udon

A beautiful stir-fry udon dish that gives some comfort food vibes that let you relax after a long day of grinding away at life. As a lunch it has some invigorating flavours to help you work through to the end of the day.

Steak Udon

Ingredients
  

  • 1 piece of sirloin steak 400g
  • 6 udons
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 1/2 red pepper, thinly sliced

Marinade

  • 2 tsp Chinese cooking wine
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 tsp sugar

Sauce

  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp dark soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp five spice powder
  • 2 tbsp water

Instructions
 

  • Marinade beef with Chinese cooking wine, oyster sauce, soy sauce, garlic and sugar for 30 minutes.
  • Cook udon according to the instruction and drain.  
  • Mix sauce and set aside
  • Heat a wok and add oil.  Cook onion for couple minutes and then add beef.  Stir fry for 3 to 4 minutes.  Then add cooked udon and sauce.  Mix well.
