Steamed Tofu with Shrimp
Are you ready for Chinese New Year. This dish is very easy and quick to make. Chinese steamed food is amazing, the entire dish will always be evenly cooked. The shrimp tops the tofu like butter on bread.
Ingredients
- 1 packet of silky tofu
- 6 shrimps – peeled and deveined
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
Shrimp marinade
- 1 tsp fish sauce
- 1 tsp Chinese cooking wine
Sauce
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp hot water
- ½ tsp sugar
- 2 tbsp hot oil
Instructions
- Marinate shrimps with fish sauce and Chinese cooking wine for 15 minutes. Butterflied shrimps.
- Cut tofu into 6 equal pieces. Use paper towel to absorb excess water. Use a teaspoon and dig a small hole in the center of the tofu.
- Once the water boils, place the dish in the wok and close the lid. Steam for 5 to 7 minutes or until the shrimp changed to pink in color
- When the tofu is ready, there will be some water at the base of the dish. I use a paper towel to soak the liquid.
- For the sauce, mix soy sauce, sugar, hot water in a bowl and pour hot oil.
- Pour the sauce on top of the tofu.
