Rice Paper Roll (Cheong Fun)

This reimagined Chinese dim sum dish is way quicker than any normal traditional Cheong Fun. With rice paper and a simple Vietnamese sausage filling, it’s a great breakfast or short cut for dim sum.

Rice Paper Roll (Cheong Fun)

Ingredients
  

  • 5 rice paper sheets
  • Warm water
  • Oil

Filling

  • Vietnamese sausage, cut into small pieces
  • Green Onions

Topping

  • Dry shallot
  • Green onion 
  • Chopped cashew

Sauce

  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup fish sauce
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 tbsp sriracha or 1 bird eye chilli

Instructions
 

  • Mix sauce and set aside.
  • Soak the rice paper sheets in the warm water for about 5 seconds.
  • To prevent rice paper sticking on the plate.  I lay the wet paper towel under the rice paper sheet.  
  • Arrange the Vietnamese sausage and some green onions and start to roll the rice paper.
  • Brush oil in the container.  Brush oil on the rice paper rolls.
  • Steam for about 5 minutes.
  • Serve
