This reimagined Chinese dim sum dish is way quicker than any normal traditional Cheong Fun. With rice paper and a simple Vietnamese sausage filling, it’s a great breakfast or short cut for dim sum.
Rice Paper Roll (Cheong Fun)
Ingredients
- 5 rice paper sheets
- Warm water
- Oil
Filling
- Vietnamese sausage, cut into small pieces
- Green Onions
Topping
- Dry shallot
- Green onion
- Chopped cashew
Sauce
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 cup fish sauce
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1/4 cup rice vinegar
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 1 tbsp sriracha or 1 bird eye chilli
Instructions
- Mix sauce and set aside.
- Soak the rice paper sheets in the warm water for about 5 seconds.
- To prevent rice paper sticking on the plate. I lay the wet paper towel under the rice paper sheet.
- Arrange the Vietnamese sausage and some green onions and start to roll the rice paper.
- Brush oil in the container. Brush oil on the rice paper rolls.
- Steam for about 5 minutes.
- Serve
